I'll be honest, I have no idea where this image came from or who took it. I don't even remember where I first saw it but I was able to locate it quickly enough with a simple online search. This shows one of my favorite types of photography. A black and white image with just one item (or one color) showing brightly. I really like that the edge of the umbrella in this photo just barely hides the two faces so it's actually only implied that they're kissing behind it. The red of the umbrella really pops right out of the picture. The horizon lines seem to be straight which help keep your eyes focused on the center on the image. The vibrancy of the umbrella seems to allow me to see the bright colors that would fill the rest of the photo if it was not black and white.

This photo captured my interest mostly because of the vantage point. I love pictures taken like this. looking up from underneath. It was taken as a series of shots of plant life in L.A. My eye starts at the tree trunk on the right and travels all the way up to the sky before I'm able to take in the rest of the photo. The picture is a juxtaposition between nature and the city. Most of the frame is taken up by trees and sky but you can catch glimpses of the city in the lower background. I don't always like perfect symmetry so the way the trees cut through the corner on the image diagonally really attracted me.

The camera I'm starting off the semester with is a Kodak EasyShare Z8612IS but I may switch back over to a FujiFilm Finepix Z20 out of personal preference.
