Weekly Photo Review

Independent photography done by Petrovsky & Ramone. http://www.petrovskyramone.com/

I really love how they put air, water, fire, and earth all together in this one photograph. I'm also a sucker for anything with the word love in it. The word is nicely centered in the photograph with contrasting colors on either side which help it stand out. I wish the foreground was a bit lighter but the darkness does allow the fire to create its own light and shadow. My eyes focus on the fire but the rocky cave does a good job almost vignetting the photo.

"On Assignment"

Edit: Increased exposure and sharpness. graduated filter on top left corner to bring out blue of sky and one on bottom to darken grass that was too bright with the higher exposure

Edit: Graduated filter on right side to brighten. increased saturation, contrast, sharpness and edited temp to make the image warmer. Also removed foliage in lower right hand corner with spot removal tool.

Weekly Photo Review

As far as I can tell I believe this was taken by an amateur photographer. I found it posted through flickr to a collection put together by someone else. I love the color balance of this photo. It has a mix of cool blue, neutral white and warm pink throughout the entire image. I also like the depth of field. The front blossoms are in wonderful focus while the rest of the image is blurry but still recognizable as other blossom bunches. the only thing I think could be improved about this image is the light. I would like it more if the front blossom bunch had a little more light on it to make it look brighter and bring out the pink a bit more.

Weekly Photo Review

Photo by Timothy Burkhart and Stephanie Bassos. This photo was taken on the same film by two separate photographers. Bassos used an entire roll of film and photographed only people then Burkhart reloaded the same film and photographed only places. This photo is the original it has not been edited.
I personally liked this photo better than the others because I thought the way the leaves and the buildings overlap is very interesting. The girl and the building occupy the same space but somehow it still feels balanced to me. Maybe because she/it is offset by the sky/wall/car. I think the color and lighting of both exposures manages to come out nicely.

you can find the photo attached to the tumblr blog it came from here
